About Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity Park
It was established in the year 2015 to showcase the rich diversity of indigenous orchids found in Assam. Besides orchids, the park is designed in such as way that it acts as a museum of Assamese culture and natural history that includes traditional artefacts, food items, medicine, native fruits and flowers, rice museum, bamboo and cane products.

The orchid greenhouse, boasting over 600 varieties, many of which are endemic to Northeast India, is a spectacular attraction within Kaziranga Orchid Park. Its vibrant array of orchids offers a captivating sight, particularly for photography enthusiasts who can capture mesmerizing macro shots of these exquisite flowers. In addition to this, there is an orchid gallery where images of various orchids found in Assam and NE India are displayed.
Plant Nursery
In addition, the campus hosts numerous nurseries featuring exotic plants such as Anthurium, Bougainvillea, Pilea, Colocasia, Alocasia, water lilies, and lotus. This offers a delightful experience for plant enthusiasts, providing a treat for those who revel in being surrounded by nature’s abundance.
Traditional Handloom Store
You can get firsthand experience of traditional assamese handloom; get to know how these beautiful clothes are woven. You can also buy from these stores. Besides, Gamosa and Mekhela Sador (traditional assamese women’s wear), you can also buy other artefacts and souvenirs from these stores.
Besides, there is a food court inside the park where they offer traditional Assamese dishes (price starting from Rs. 200/-).

Events Organised at Kaziranga Orchid Park
Every evening, a cultural program is organized for visitors, featuring traditional Assamese folk dances. These performances include Bihu dance, Sattriya dance, bamboo dance, and Deodhani dance. On special occasions, artists also perform Bhaona, a traditional play of Assam. Tickets for these cultural programs are sold separately, costing ₹200 for Indian visitors and ₹350 for foreign visitors.
Best Time To Visit Kaziranga Orchid Park
The best time to visit Kaziranga Orchid Park is during Spring season (April-May) as the orchids bloom in abundance. However, orchids are all season flower. You can visit the park anytime of the year. Generally, winter season attracts more visitors.
How To Reach Kaziranga Orchid Park
The nearest city to Kaziranga National Park with air connectivity is Guwahati, situated at a distance of 190 kilometers. Guwahati boasts both international and domestic flight services through LGBIA Airport, Guwahati. For travelers coming from outside Assam, flying to Guwahati is a convenient option. Alternatively, one can opt for a train journey to Guwahati Railway Station. From Guwahati, you can easily arrange for a cab ride to Kaziranga, typically costing around 6000 rupees. The road conditions are excellent, with a four-lane highway leading from Guwahati to Kaziranga, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey to the park.
