The Indian Railways, in collaboration with IRCTC Ltd., has introduced an exciting and unforgettable journey through the enchanting Northeastern states of India. The Bharat Gaurav Train, a Deluxe AC Tourist train, embarks on a 14-night and 15-day curated tour, starting from Delhi’s Safdarjung railway station. This extraordinary expedition is designed to introduce travellers to the relatively untraversed treasures of Northeast India. The train will cover the top five states of North East i.e. Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura and Meghalaya.

About Bharat Gaurav Train

This train is fully air-conditioned with AC I, AC II and AC III tier accommodation onboard. The train has one dedicated modern kitchen car (flameless), two rail restaurants, coaches fitted with washrooms having shower cubicles, electronic safes in each cabin, foot massagers, infotainment system, CCTV cameras etc giving it a very exclusive semi-luxury feel. The total train capacity is 268 seats.

1. Guwahati, Assam: The tour commences with a visit to the iconic Kamakhya Temple, followed by the Umananda Temple, and a breathtaking sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River.

2. Sivasagar, Assam: Sivasagar, the old capital of the Ahom Kingdom, boasts the majestic Siva Doul, along with other heritage sites such as Talatal Ghar and Rang Ghar (Colosseum of the East). You can also explore maidams of Charaideo, called the pyramid of Assam.

3. Jorhat, Assam: Explore the lush tea gardens at Jorhat, followed by an overnight stay at the heart of wildlife, Kaziranga. Don’t miss the opportunity for an early morning jungle safari at the Kaziranga National Park.

4. Tripura: A visit to the renowned heritage site, Unakoti, nestled in the densely covered Jampui Hills, is followed by a journey to the capital city of Agartala. Explore the famous Ujjayanta Palace, the stunning Neermahal, and the Tripura Sundari Mandir in Udaipur.

5. Nagaland: Depart for Dimapur and explore the Nagaland phase of the trip. From Dimapur station, buses will take tourists to Kohima to visit local sites, including a tour of the Khonoma village to experience the Naga way of life.

Shillong and Cherrapunji, Meghalaya: The train will make its way to Guwahati, from where sightseers will be transported to the picturesque location of Shillong and Cherrapunji, known for their stunning landscapes and cultural richness. Here, you can see living root bridges, one of the natural wonders of Meghalaya, on the way to Cherrapunji from Shillong.

7. The Return Journey: From Cherrapunji, tourists will travel back to Guwahati station to board the Bharat Gaurav Train for the return journey to Delhi, concluding this magnificent voyage.
